Why do we have to pay the postage for taxes? If it's something that the government FORCES you to do, they should have free shipping for taxes! Like Amazon!
And not only that, but that census I get in the mail every year, too. I shouldn't have to fill it out AND pay for a stamp! THAT is a lot of work!
I do it because it is my civic duty, though, and if there is anything I learned from reading comic books, it's that civic duty is the only thing non-super-powered people can do. It's kind of like saving the world from a sun eater.
Okay, so police and fire people do some stuff that is heroicy, but you get my point.
Fine, you're right, Batman doesn't have any super powers, but he's rich. So...RICH people could do stuff, too.
The point is...well...I don't remember what the point is. I DO know that I'm going through "bag drama" as I try to figure out which messenger bag I want to carry.
It's very trying on my soul.
And that makes it hard to remember to buy stamps to send things to the government.
THAT is the point.
I'm off to change my bag.
Enjoy Everything.

this...is...american monkle
I almost forgot about this! I love sharing my dreams! Isn't it fun to talk about your dreams with people?
I don't know why. I guess because they are so odd.
So, I was auditioning to be a monk. Because, like American Idol, you have to audition for it. But, in my dream, monks have to take a vow of silence.
For part of my audition, I had to teach another monk some very important monk history. And I couldn't say anything while doing it.
Luckily, monk history was Batman. So, in my dream, all I had to do was think about the comic book picture and the other monk understood what was going on!
I don't know if Batman is really an important part of monk teachings, but I truly believe it should be.
Oh, after teaching some Batman stuff, the head monk asked me if I was ready to be a monk forever.
Then a school bus pulled up and I decided that I couldn't not talk for the rest of my life.
If a school bus shows up, you know some major decision will be made. It's just the way of the universe.
And my dreams.
Happy Pi Day. 3/14
I'm off to do more Batman research.
Enjoy Everything.

a cold and the flu
Why is it "A" cold and "THE" flu? Why does cold get such a "it's one of many" title?
There are all sorts of different flus! Fluse? Flues? ... Types of flu!
"THE" makes it sound like it's the one and only. Like: THE Batman. THE Mona Lisa.
Not: "A" Crime Fighter or "A" Painting.
The cold doesn't get enough respect. That's right. I called it THE cold. How often do you get a cold?
A LOT! It has EARNED your fear and respect!
RESPECT THE COLD!
That should be a t-shirt.
I don't think I'll give flu the title of "THE" anymore. It's just a flu. One of many. Every animal has one, so WHOOPIE DOO FLU! You're so UNspecial that you give a flu for every phylum!
I'm off to wash my hands.
Enjoy Everything.

throw another blog on the fire
Does anybody read blogs anymore? The new studies say they don't!
Kids just don't have time to read these horrifically long blogs. They're more than 140 characters! That's just crazy!
People like to read short bursts of info instead of the long novel-length blog.
So, what am I doing writing this? I have no idea, but I can't stop!
Some day I will make my blogs short. I should start now.
Some guy made a GIANT penny out of 84,000 regular sized pennies. Batman has a giant penny. Is this guy Batman?! I just found Batman! (Under 140 characters!)
If I DID have more characters, I COULD tell you about all the other great things that are better when they are used to make bigger versions of themselves.
Like a giant cupcake made from regular cupcakes. Or a giant cookie made from smaller cookies. Maybe a giant disco ball made from other disco balls. Can you think of anything else?
How about a giant pile of whipped cream made from smaller piles of whipped cream!
That would be fun to play in! Put a giant disco ball over that and you have a party!
Unfortunately, I didn't have the room to write all of that, so we didn't get to talk about it. But if we were able to get those characters, that would have been fun to mention.
I'm off to keep it short.
Enjoy Everything.

big day
Not only was there a new pond at work today, but I got my order from amazon!
I really thought the pond was going to be the big story, but they cleaned that up with a wet/dry vac. The pond is gone, but when I got into work this morning, there could have been some fishin' going on. It was pretty huge.
I did get some great stuff from amazon, though! And it was all my stuff. It looks like my stuff. Let me check again.
...
Yep...Batman comics and coffee. The little shipment slip that came in the box said something different. I don't know HOW it happened, but Courtney's order slip for Schaum's Outline of Statistics and Schaum's Outline of Financial Management got into my box!
So, it's possible that Courtney, in Chicago, is looking at my order right now. She's probably glad that she got her 5 copies of Statistics and 2 copies of Financial Management.
I'm SOOOOOO glad I didn't get them! What am I going to do with that? Become a stock broker? What does Financial Management even mean?! I'm guessing it has something to do with lemurs, but I really have no idea.
So, Courtney, if you're reading this, I hope you enjoyed my shipment slip. And I hope your statistics are as exciting as my Batman.
I doubt it, though. Let me know if you want to trade for a week. I won't read your books, but at least you get to read something exciting and non-statistic-y.
I'm off to read Batman's Outline of Statistics and Awesomeness.
Enjoy Everything.

more mother's day
Just when I thought I knew EVERYTHING about Mother's Day, Peru throws me a curve ball. Or an uppercut.
In Peru, Mom's celebrated their day by boxing. Yep, ten moms put on the gloves and got into the ring.
That's pretty awesome. As a kid, don't you wish you saw your mom do some more boxing? I know I did, but my mom retired her gloves after I was born. Yep. It's a good thing she wasn't in Peru. She would have schooled them all.
My mom trained with the best: Evander Holyfield, George Foreman, Bruce Lee, Iron Fist, and even Batman. So, you know, she's pretty tough.
My mom can also fly. But she doesn't fly when she's boxing. She's not a cheater.
Can your mom box? That would be cool if she did. Maybe my mom will come out of retirement someday.
But maybe not. She's kind of a mahjong champ these days.
I'm off to fly like a butterfly.
Enjoy Everything.

a valentine poem
If you're looking for a Valentine's Day poem for your loved one, I wrote it for you. Recite this:
Star Wars, G.I. Joe and Spider-Man are great movies.
I like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Batman.
Superman. Nova. Rocket Raccoon. Iceman.
The Hulk. The Flash. Captain America.
And you.
oh...and Wolverine is awesome!
The End.
After you use this poem, your partner will melt into a pile of goo. Don't do it over something absorbent like a sponge or cotton balls. I don't know how gooey your man or woman will become, but sometimes it's a very liquidy goo that will get sucked right up by a sham-wow.
You have your warnings and you have your poem. Go forth and make valentiney.
Enjoy Everything.

snow day? go joe!
The best thing about snow is that you are stuck indoors. And when you're stuck indoors, you can watch movies!
If you're like me (which would be scary), then you have a few favorites that you watch all the time. Maybe when you're sick or feeling lazy and you just want to watch a movie, you'll put on Star Wars or Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and just relax to a great film.
Well, I have a new movie to add to that list. G. I. Joe. I know! I can't stop talking about this movie! It's that good!
And it's perfect for a snowy day!
Why is it so good? It's like a comic book put in motion. It's the best comic book movie I have ever seen. It is better than Spider-Man, Batman and X-Men. No joke. G.I. Joe is what those movies SHOULD have been.
G.I. Joe Movie Maker: "What did you give your movies?"
Other Superhero Movie Makers: "Boring Juice."
G.I. Joe Movie Maker: "Then I'm going to give my movie AWESOME JUICE!"
Other Superhero Movie Makers: "Whatevs."
And thus, a great movie was born.
I know I'm talking about the G.I. Joe movie a lot, but I mean, did you see that chase scene?! SO COOL!
Okay, I'm done, for now. I will try to stop talking about it, but I can't promise anything.
I'm off to get some awesome juice.
Enjoy Everything.

special election
I didn't want to talk about it until it was over because I didn't want to influence anybody's vote. But, now that the special election is done, we can examine what happened.
If you're curious, the person I voted for didn't win. Who did I vote for, you ask? The Hulk.
I know, I know...the Hulk didn't have a chance, but I really supported his views. He IS quoted as saying, "Hulk like candy," and "Hulk like unicorns," so I thought he was the best choice.
Just in case you missed the results, Spider-Man (the Arachnid candidate) is now the King of Myroomdia. Batman (the Eutheria candidate...bet you weren't expecting that one! Look it up, it's real!) was a close second and Hulk was a distant third.
I liked Spider-Man's plans for the Infinity Wars, but I couldn't get past the deal he made with Mephisto (google "spider-man mephisto deal" and you'll understand).
I didn't like Batman at all. Especially his security measures of having a base on the moon and satellites watching our every move. He also talked a lot about healthy eating and exercising. That was boring.
No, I didn't forget about Darth Vader, but I don't think ANYBODY voted for him. He IS pretty evil, so I HOPE nobody voted for him.
I'm off to play in Myroomdia.
Enjoy Everything.

superman?
I don't know how I missed this, but apparently Superman was the Inspector General of Homeland Security once. Of course, he went by the name Clark Kent...Ervin...but still.
I like to follow the news now, but back then, I didn't care that much. Lately, I've been hearing a lot from Clark Kent Ervin and he is now the head of the Homeland Security Program at the Aspen Institute.
His name really is Clark Kent Ervin. His older brother told his parents that they should name the new baby after his favorite super hero. They did. This is why his parents are awesome.
This is ALSO why children should name babies. It's WAY cooler!
Good names for babies: Batman, Spider-Man, Nightwing, Hulk, Nova and Rocket Raccoon.
Now, Clark Kent...Ervin...goes by that name. Obviously because he knows how cool it is to BE CLARK KENT! (ervin)
Would I like to meet him someday?
Yes.
Will I rip open his shirt to see if he has a costume on underneath?
I'd consider it, but since he's Superman AND part of Homeland Security, I feel like my chances of getting away from that situation unharmed are pretty slim.
But I like those odds.
I'm off to Aspen.
Enjoy!

super dreams
I think I have mentioned in the past that I don't remember my dreams very often. Well, I remember one. It's one that I've had a few times already. I'll tell you what I can remember.
I'm at the mall and I'm Robin. You know, from Batman and Robin. Then an evil robot Robin comes in and starts to fight me! I beat the evil robot Robin and wake up.
That's it. Does anybody have any idea what that means? Am I Robin because I don't think I'm good enough to be Batman? Do I fight myself because of some internal battle...with the evil robot that lives inside of me? I just can't figure it out!
That's all I got for today. I do remember that I used to have a dream years ago that I was Indiana Jones and I had to find the Triforce from "The Legend Of Zelda." Remember that video game for Nintendo? I don't know what that dream meant, but I haven't had that one in years. So, I guess I'm over that.
Why can't I dream of clouds and rainbows and glitter? Why do I have to fight evil robots? I guess robots are pretty cool. Evil ones are even cooler because they have laser guns. The one in my dream shoots lasers...so that's cool.
I'm off to fight my inner robot demons.
Enjoy!

obama letter
Mr. Obama wrote a letter to his daughters. I know. He WROTE a letter. Shouldn't he have just texted something to them? I guess it's a little long for a text. Maybe an email. I don't know. Writing a letter seems so 1930. Oh well.
It's a sweet letter that the girls will read in 30 years and probably cry out of happiness. SO, not to be outdone by the president-elect, I have decided to write a letter to his daughters as well.
Dear Malia and Sasha,
What's up? How is it being to coolest kids in school? It must rock. I bet you laugh when the teacher asks you to draw your house. You probably have the coolest stuff for show and tell like Andrew Jackson's underwear or Taft's giant knickers. All the other kids are probably envious.
What's it like in the white house? Is there a game room? I bet it has Pac-Man. As soon as you move in, you should ask the chef there to make you an ice cream mountain. Climb to the top and eat your way down. Maybe have them mix gummy bears in it.
Is there a waterslide in there? There should be! Or maybe a fireman's pole! It could be in your dad's bedroom and when he slides down he changes into his Batman uniform. Then, from the Batcave, he can do cool stuff...like call Australia for a wallaby.
What I really want to know is if you have access to the treasury. I don't know if there is actually any money in there, but in my head it looks like Scrooge McDuck's vault and I want to go swimming in a pile of gold coins. If you could make that happen, I would be eternally grateful. I'll buy you a Hannah Montana T-shirt or something.
Let me know if we can make this happen.
Write back!
-DJ
Don't worry folks, I'll post pictures of me swimming in the gold. I'm sure they have cameras in there anyway. Maybe I can post a video on youtube.
I'm off to find a stamp!
Enjoy!

one nation under wii
I found this pretty interesting. The headline was "The Nintendo Wii Is More Popular Than God."
Wow. That's pretty bold! I don't think they mean throughout history, but in 2008, Wii beat God in internet searches by 76%.
I guess that makes sense because you already know where to find God, right? I mean, depending on your beliefs, God is everywhere, so it's, like, easy to find him/her/it. I would imagine God hated playing hide and seek.
"9, 10. Ready or not! Here I come! (open eyes) I found God! God's it!"
It's tough to hide when you're everywhere. The Wii, on the other hand, is not that easy to find. So obviously, you would probably have to search for the Wii.
And I'm sure God doesn't care about popularity contests. God's above all that. I bed if God was reading the paper and saw that headline, he/she/it would probably not care.
"Hmmm...Alfred, did you see that the Wii is more popular than I am?"
"I did not see that, God." (I'm pretty sure God has a butler named Alfred...just like Batman. I think God also wears a cape.)
"I bet the Wii can't even make a peninsula...let alone an entire universe."
"I don't believe the Wii can do that, God.”
"You're darn tootin it can't...I still want one for Christmas, though."
"I'll look for it on the internet."
"Thank you Alfred...and maybe you could get me a triceratops for Hanukkah."
HA! I knew I wasn't the only person who wanted one of those!
Did you know that the part of land connecting a peninsula to the mainland is an isthmus? That is such a cool word. I will ride my triceratops over the isthmus onto the peninsula.
I'm off to isthmus.
Enjoy!

Enjoy!
